Guess what: actual sitenews....
Nothing really major to the end user. I just moved all the <TABLE> tags into a .js file. Unless you look at the sourcecode, that won't mean much to you right away.
On the other hand, it's now a hell of a lot easier to update things like the links to the left. Or, it takes roughly the same amount of effort, but I only have to do it once; and all the files accessing the .js scripts will be updated.
That matters a lot, factoring that the messages on the board are using the .js files too.

Update on the JavaScript thing: while it works on the laptop, it doesn't work on the server; apparently, we haven't got SSIs here....

This would be an image of Hunter wearing her Grimmy&Sick shirt, if the DigiCam were currently working correctly with the laptop....Aside from that, there's really just a bit of antinews. For example, I was going to grab an image off the DigiCam and jam it in here, but, somehow, the DigiCam stopped working on me. Or, more accurately, the DigiCam works fine, but the drivers all disappeared on me. So, until I manage to get the drivers [reportedly on the WindozeAluminium CD somewhere] reinstalled, that won't be happening.
Of course, it helps a lot that some moron here at Perkins took the liberty of unplugging the damned laptop on me. The outlet is installed into the runningboard of the booth; apparently, it's easy enough for any idiot to reach down and unplug it. And the laptop didn't bother telling me about it until the battery was down to ten percent. Which was within about twenty minutes. They really need to make better batteries for these things.
Or, alternatively, they need to stop making idiots who unplug laptops.
You have to wonder about the mental prowess inherent in these geeks. Toh hoh hyuck: I unplugged that there laptop on him hyuck; sure, I'm a drunk with a sober IQ of room temperature whose car cost less than his watch, who feels some strange need to protect this hideous freak of a female I managed to talk into coming to Perkins with me--with a little help from Rohypnol--but I unplugged that there laptop, toh hoh hyuck....
These are the people who make me think about reevaluating Darwin's theories....

There again: not a lot of news at the moment.

Another update: I got the DigiCam working after all; see above >:)

I still think there should be a law against the plagiarism you encounter at Perkins at three in the morning. From the dumbassed 'actors' who recite and rerecite and overrecite anything originally heard in any given Austin Powers film to the pseudointellectuals who rip off Steven Wright's notorious how come you park in the driveway and drive on the parkway at me.
Yes: terribly clever. Pity you didn't notice the nonsequitur for yourself.
Automotive nonsequiturs? Okay, here:

  • What's the warranty on a Century? Or a Millennia. Or an Infiniti?
  • What sort of gas does a Neon use?
  • Can a Vector turn?
  • How many horsepower can one Mustang have? And how can it be more than a Pinto?
  • Do you need a special weapons permit to drive a Laser? Or a Colt? Or a LeSabre?
  • Do you need a specific birthday to drive an Aries? Or a Taurus?
  • What's a Lorean, and why was it removed?
  • Why is a Suburban larger than a Metro?
  • Can an Escort be the only car on the road?
  • Wouldn't it be funny to see a Ninja being chased by a Samauri which was towing a Katana?

Questions like these are the reason I'm awake and in Perkins at three in the morning.
Anyway....
Hunter has updated EvilCoffeeChick.com a bit. Mostly the Idiot Archive again. This time, she's started to counterattack some of the idiocy displayed by CEI--particularly in the final days of WastedBinary's involvement.
Hunter also wanted to be sure I mentioned that, since EvilCoffeeChick is on this server, and mirrored at hunter.gremlin.net, the disclaimer applies to her site, as well as all the others.

Grimmy&Sick: now available once again....Speaking of other sites and disclaimers: the image [not above] which would be here if I could get the DigiCam to work with the laptop [I'll fix it later] has a bit to do with PredaciousMoments.com. Specifically, it's a shot of Hunter wearing her Grimmy-n-Sick shirt, which is momentarily unavailable. The reason for that is explained pretty well at PredaciousMoments.com. The short version of the story is that someone claiming to represent PreciousMoments.com is currently guilty of libel: they accused us of stealing images from their site [or something] and making merchandise out of them.
However: we've gone over this with our legal staff, whose opinions are that Precious Moments are A) wrong about this copyright theft thing, B) guilty of libel and barratry in this attempted injunction thing, and C) not very smart at all.
We concur.
So, the Predacious Moments merch is effectively available again. Go ahead and hit PredaciousMoments.com to order.

One last thing: I finally got a real intro put together; it's on the index.html.
I think that's it; more later....
