The good news first: the site works in Exploder now.
It turned out to be a problem in the .css for the board. Basically, the board is phpBB, which naturally runs subSilver as a skin; then someone took subSilver and changed the colours and images in it to create subBlack; and I took subBlack and seriously moved stuff around and added more images to reflect V19.
Somewhere during the mod from subSilver to subBlack, the guy modding it got a few things really wrong in the coding. Fun stuff like added quotemarks and missing semicolons. Firefox, Opera, and Netscape all overlooked that; Exploder whimpered and puked.
So, after several hours of reading each line of code, when we found nothing obvious, Hunter ran it through DreamWeaver and noticed where the coding was switching colours to indicate a problem at a specific character on a specific line. Then things became simple.
So: the board works. And the site works. And that's about that.
Again: I've got some images to replace or remove; but that's comparatively simple. I might be able to do it today.
Although.
So I went to the dentist again. And this is the bad news. Everything went wrong. First, the procedure we'd had planned got scrapped, along with the results of the last couple appointments. Basically, new technology has arisen, and it would work better for the basic goal. So now we're back to pulling out implants and drilling new postholes [it's really almost that simple, sadly]. Ordinarily, you don't even need painkillers for that, since everything being drilled is already rootcanalled to hell.
Then there's me. The guy who, two weeks ago, took 'this may all be sore for a while' to mean pretty much exactly that. And thusly I never mentioned the comparatively minor soreness from the last two weeks. Meaning compared to the headaches I get. Meaning that anyone else would have called the minor soreness the basic hellish pain of a raging periodontal infexion.
Fun Fact: drilling within a kilometre of a raging periodontal infexion hurts a lot.
Fun Fact: injecting novacaine into a raging periodontally infected abcess hurts even more.
Science: we thusly ascertained the condition of having this raging periodontal infexion minor soreness issue.
Result: yummy, yummy pills. Not Percoset this time, but Vicodin.
So: I might get to the board today. Hunter probably won't, since she's still slowing her breathing from having to drive my Formula home. It's sad when I'm far enough gone to make her more suited to command four hundred horses with hairtrigger steering on Denver's streets.
Anyway: that's the basic update for the moment. More later....
