End of the year.
Also, the end of a decade.
True story: this site first went online on 4th January 1997. Ten years ago. Building up from something like ten people knowing about it to more than a visitor per second. Exploding from a single index.html to 166 spinoff domains. Ameliorating from a few kilobytes to half a terabyte. Evolving laterally from approximately no actual content to...I guess some things never change.
The good news is that, for the moment, I'm happy enough with the site as it is. Usually, I make changes to the functionality and aesthetics about twice a year; at this point, things mostly work for me, so the next revision won't be terribly different. Although, my primary computer puked a few days ago, during the blizzard here in Denver, preventing me from doing much to fix it, to date; so I'm working on a laptop which lacks some of the software I'm used to having, and has only half a gigabyte of RAM. So, the changes I was intending to make to this and various other sites at the beginning of 2007 might be slightly delayed. Then again, the site doesn't technically become ten years old until Thursday; so I might be able to update the few things I wanted to change in time after all.
Anyway: it's been a fun ten years so far. Let's see what we can do with this thing over the next ten.
I might even manage to write another What's New before 2017; that would be cool.
More later....
