I've been too busy to write one of these for the last couple months [I kinda still am, in fact], so, here's what's been happening lately:
At the beginning of November, I decided that it was a good time to do a rewrite/new version/sequel to NotS. So, that's what I did. Whatever it was. It's this, if it helps to know about it: http://stupid.gremlin.net.
It's not a long book, as far as I'm concerned. Though, having started it on 1st November and having finished it on the 29th, its composition happened to coincide with the NaNoWriMo thing in which you're supposed to write a 'novel' of fifty thousand words between the first and the thirtieth. I didn't do that. I wrote 86,007 between the first and the twenty-ninth. Because that's about as short as something can be before I'll call it a book. Of course, some of the 86,007 words were devoted to mentioning exactly that. So, now that you've read this, there's only, like, 85,500 words of new stuff left in the book. That shouldn't take you all that long to read. I'd hope.
Once that was out of the way, I started thinking more about real books. Which is usually a mistake. Because I already had one book here I've been editing to get it short enough to print up, and another I'd kinda started working with when I realised I wasn't sure exactly where it was supposed to be going. So, with those two things sitting on my computer, I started a third, which I'm still writing, and a fourth, which I'm also still writing, where the two new ones are technically related but otherwise vastly different from each other.
So. Somewhat in order, here are the three I'm still actually writing:
Terroristan
Distopolis
Shoggoths
I'm a bit further along with each than you'd think, based on those previews. But, as of now, that's how much I was okay with uploading. I might add more to each later, when I've got more done on my end.
Which of course means that I'm still pretty busy here, both with those and with various other stuff not quite worth mentioning yet. I'll try not to go this long without writing a What's New again though.
Oh yeah: also, I got another HP660LX last night, since the first one burned out on me. So, now, I'll be more able to add to the new books wherever I am, without having to dig out the laptop and wait for it to turn all the way on while its battery plummets toward zero percent. That might help matters a bit.
More later....
