So I got a new phone today. Or, really, a new computer. One of those Crackberry things; except I got a Motorola Q. Because I like Motorola, and it came with Word to Go. Meaning that I could conceivably write a novel on this thing.
To kinda test that out, Hunter thought it would be a good idea if I first tried to write a What'sNew on it. So, here I am, typing into a phone. Which in fact kinda sucks for the moment; though I just noticed that Word learned 'kinda' after the first time I used it, so it's now available from the popup pulldown menu which keeps flashing up on the right and trying to guess which word I'm starting to spell out. Sometimes it guesses correctly; other times it gets close enough that I can go with 'guessed', backspace, and change the tense. Although, now that I'm getting used to this thing, it's somehow faster to just keep typing and spell everything out myself. Not that a popup pulldown spellcheck is a bad thing to have....
So. I already copied Lurkers over to this thing. I should be able to add to it in general, wherever I am. Though, I just noticed, I'm lacking some punctuation: there're no greater- or lessthan keys on this thing. I'll have to get it into a better computer before I—whoa: I accidentally just found them under Functionkey>CapsLock. I guess I can just do things that way.
So. This is very much slower than typing on a keyboard, but probably about as fast as using a pen [presuming I wanna be able to read my writing after the fact; otherwise, it might also be as fast to type quickly and have no idea, later, what I'd been trying to write] at approximately the mass of a pen, without a big notebook or a tiny paperpad without enough room to get started: this thing's the size of an iPod, including the four gigs of space.
Since it's a new phone, there's the obvious: I had to copy all the numbers over from the old one, and the new version of BitPim didn't wanna talk to the LG; so I had to copy them all by hand. Therefore, if I should have your number but I never call you again, call me or EMail it or something; if I don't answer the phone, leave a message reminding me who the hell you are—I don’t tend to answer the phone when I haven't got a name attached to the number. Groupies. And stalkers. And trolls. Oh my.
Okay. This is getting annoying now. Maybe I secretly have some V2T thing in here; or maybe I can get one. This is actually the first machine I've ever got to understand me ['Call Hunter' actually worked without getting all confused], so it might be possible.
In any case: more later....
