The End of the End

What's New Saturday, 04th October 2008 11.00 am

I finished the book.

Not really. But I wrote the epilogue. It's this habit I've got: when I've got the book worked out well enough to know exactly how it's gonna end, I tend to skip ahead and write the last thing, usually called ChapterLast [and often still called ChapterLast in the final, published version] to get it out of the way, remember what it was, and have something to work toward without straying toward something else. So I've got that now. And I like it.

In fact, since, out of context, there are no spoilers to it, here's the final line of Lurkers....

Now call off your invasion of my table, quietly get me more coffee, and let me get back to work.

Ain't telling what the penultimate line is, or the 1,953 words before that; those six pages are pretty well nothing but spoilers; wait and see....

That just leaves writing everything from 23.37 7th August 2009 through here in the summer of 2010 [not really a spoiler either] to finish the story up to and including dawn, and push the twenty-one thousand words to date up to six figures. Which should be easy enough, since the only bits of the book not based pretty much exactly on true stories are tiny, subtle hints throughout [a couple of which have existed in the prologue since that day in June on which I wrote it] which won't make the end anything less of a shock, but will support it entirely for anyone reading through the book for a second time. Because it's more fun that way.

I should have it done this month. Meaning that I intend to have it done this month. Then, I intend to release it on Halloween. Keep an eye out for that.

More later....
