So I'm sitting here at VillageInn, wified into the backend. Something I wasn't sure I really wanted to do on an unsecured network; but the blogueware backend isn't really that big a deal, technically; the actual server controls are kinda like launchcodes, if a little more important, but we're not talking about those.

Anyway: here I am, kindasorta staring at Phobivore over coffee and no ashtrays. And that's annoying me. Because the particulars of the story, at least, have strayed since 1995. Which is something of a good thing, I suppose [or, I'd just keep what I'd had]; but it's kinda getting in my way as I try to write the original around the new stuff. And if it's not obvious why the lack of ashtrays is problematic, then you don't likely smoke, and are probably the enemy.

Of course, part of the problem is that I'm still waiting on BluCigs.com to send my stuff. It's not a huge concern since, for all I know, they'll suck entirely. But, if it works out, I'm predicting a few good things about them:

• Ability to smoke anywhere, and film imbeciles trying to tell me otherwise
• Inability to bum cigarettes to twelveyearolds lacking shaddup subroutines between whimpers
• Cool newish technology—reason enough to have bought them at all
• Reportedly cheaper than actual cigarettes, pending my own longitudinal study
• No real need to keep Zippo refilled
• Less concern about dropping a cigarette onto something inflammable
• Might not have to buy new gloves all the time
• No need at least to empty ashtrays, though I'll probably keep them around anyway

There's probably more good stuff to consider; but that's about all I can think of at the moment.

Really. All I can think of. Can't think of much regarding the book.

Maybe I'm just getting tired of sitting here. I brought the Zune along, so I'm avoiding the muzak; but it's not helping much. PinkFloyd, NineInchNails, RadioHead, Republica...nothing's really getting me into the mood to think at all.

At least it's warming up outside. And I've got the SantaCruz clipped to my backpack. Maybe I'll swap it with the cane and see what happens for a while.
