While Christians DID steal most of what Hell is from Dante's Inferno, the bible does describe this place as eternal torment, and mentions flames in relation to that several times. Also, the bible says--many times--that anyone who doesn't believe in this deity is going there. Here are just a couple of the examples:
     "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" (John 3:18).
     "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be damned" (Mark 16:16).
