There are a few places online where you can find things you're not supposed to be able to find [mirror.at/superwarez has a few things], but the most reliable way to get this stuff is through WinMX3.1.

Technically, smashing a film into DivX or mpeg is still a violation of piracy laws--even though, like .mp3s--the end result is pretty substandard.

Which tells me a little about Metallica. If they really feel threatened by the existence of 64bit .mp3s, then either they realise that their music sucks, or their fans are morons.

Maybe I'm missing something here. If you tape a song off a radio broadcast, it's generally better than the .mp3 you can download; if you tape something off of HBO or Showtime, it's consistently better than the DivX or mpeg version you can download. But these people are worried about a splotchy, pixelated film found through WinMX cutting into their DVD sales once the film is released. If that's the case, then there was no need to spend a hundred million dollars on the postproduction effects of most of these films: people aren't as impressed by the visuals and THX sound as they'd thought if a sort of animgif with monosound is a real threat to sales.
