Gould was another candidate for Man of the Twentieth Century, alongside Churchill, Disney, Oppenheimer, and Clarke. He rivalled O'Hair for calling bullshit on 'creation science' and Cuvier for promoting the reality of evolution to the public.

This really is too bad. I'd have liked to see his reactions to a few of the things we'll be doing soon with genetics. Maybe he'd already addressed that somewhere; I'll have to watch for it.
