I don't really acknowledge that definition of belief. Belief based on evidence doesn't make a lot of sense. Belief is a factor of faith, and faith is belief despite a lack of supporting evidence, or despite contradicting evidence.
A belief based on evidence would be a theory. To believe is to assume a thing is true because you want to; to theorise is to assume a thing is true because there are facts suggesting that it is.
