Actually, there's a growing suspicion that scotsmantroll is an atheist pretending to be a christian. His character changes a lot. He slips back and forth from smart to dumb and nice to mean. Whatever he is, he's not what he claims to be.
As for dumb atheists: those exist. Hell: rocks are atheists; they don't believe in deities either. But, among homosapiens, you find atheists at both ends of the intellectual scale. The retards are atheistic because they don't understand the concept of deities; the geniuses are atheistic because, while we understand the assertion, we see no reason to assume that it's true. The theists are the average idiots who heard that deities existed, decided to believe it, and felt qualified to represent these fictional creatures to everyone else. Which, as far as I'm concerned, makes them sightly dumber than the mentally retarded who are more likely to drool on me than to tell me to believe in a badly-written novel or burn in its hell.
