The way I originally described the contest, back when it was totally unofficial, voting was delayed until the first day of the following month.
Essentially, optimally, we'd spend all thirty-one days of May collecting quotes for May, and open up voting on 1st June. And, since some people don't actually live online, we could actually leave voting open for anywhere from a week to the entire month. In which case we'd know the winner of May's contest on 1st July.
Which might seem like a long time. But realise that we could notify the winner on 1st July without expecting it to sink into its broken fucking brain until sometime next March.
