Independence Day has many symbolic connections to 9/11

1. In the movie, President Whitmore was a very unpopular President in the polls and a Republican. Bush was losing popularity in the polls before September 11th and is a Republican.

2. President Whitmore was a fighter pilot. President Bush was a fighter pilot in the Texas Air National Guard.

3. The destruction of major buildings in the movie suddenly came from above. The destruction of the World Trade Center and a portion of the Pentagon suddenly came from above.

4. The collapse of the towers of the World Trade Center looked like the destruction of the Empire State Building in the movie but without the laser beam.

5. The dust and debris from the collapsing World Trade Center raced down streets like the firestorm in the movie and flipped over cars.

6. The Whitehouse was evacuated in the movie. The same happened in real life.

7. After the President, the General and several others get on the Marine One helicopter, the camera zooms in on the laptop computer held by Jeff Goldblum's character. For one complete second the time is; 9:11

8. President Whitmore immediately got on board Air Force One and went to a secret military installation. Bush did the same.

9. The aliens plan of destruction was alien to our way of life. The same goes for the terrorists plans for America.

10. The aliens hid inside the steel caverns of space-ships the size of gigantic mountains. Osama Bin Laden hid inside of caves inside of gigantic mountains.

11. The aliens wanted all humans dead. The terrorists want all Americans dead.

Here's some numeric parallels between the movie and real life;

"ID4", the short hand term for "Independence Day" and "OEF", the shorthand term for "Operation Enduring Freedom" are the same from a numerology point of view;

I = 9th letter of the alphabet
D = 4th letter of the alphabet
4 = 4

9+4+4 = 17 = 1+7 = 8

O = 15th letter of the alphabet
E = 5th letter of the alphabet
F = 6th letter of the alphabet

15+5+6 = 26 = 2+6 = 8
or
