You might be misreading. I'd have to go read through the entirety of NewsoftheStoopid.com to see whether I was miswriting. I try not to announce any sort of actual lawsuit until it's actually underway, since that tends to be barratry.
     I don't happen to remember which manager told me there was any minimum at a restaurant; which is to say that, so many different managers have lied about that, that I can't remember which one I'd have been talking about. The one really springing to mind was Friday's, which went out of business a few months after my report was uploaded.
     The rezoned smoking section was a VillageIdiot here in Denver. I'm still not sure exactly what that was about. There was a group of us all going to that place on a weekly basis, so I ended up returning to it, by which point the same manager seemed to have forgotten all about the incident, and to have moved the smoking section back where it belongs. Either the guy has a serious psychological problem, or a computer; maybe he worked out that I was the guy writing NotS. No idea.
     As for managers taking in personally that employees would talk to customers, that sounds a bit like Grot's. Which is another VillageIdiot, in which the manager actually prohibited the staff from stopping long enough to get orders; they had to kinda walk around in stupid little circles, memorising everything. At one point, I got so tired of waiting for the opportunity to order food that I pulled out my phone [less common an ability in 1994] and called Domino's to have a pizza delivered to my table. The manager wasn't happy about that at all, but it was very much her own fault. Corporate agreed; she went away.
