This just in:
The new Action Replay MAX is here!
Introducing the new edition of Action Replay MAX! As you'll already know, Action Replay MAX is the most powerful game enhancement package available for the PS2, or any other format for that matter. But what you might not know is that that the already huge gap between AR MAX and its closest rival (if ‘rival' isn't being too generous) just got a hell of a lot bigger. How? Well, in addition to being the best cheat code system money can buy, AR MAX now comes with a load of additional software included.
Of these new utilities, the most exciting has to be MAX Media Creator. This incredibly powerful tool turns your PS2 into an all-round digital entertainment centre. With MAX Media Creator you can run any digital media stored on your PC on your PS2. You can also burn PS2 compatible CD-R's containing MP3 music files and/or DivX movies. All this without modifying any of your hardware – so no fiddling with your PS2 or invalidating your warranty!
MAX Media's not all - AR MAX now includes a Mega Drive emulator that allows you to play Mega Drive game ROMs on your PS2. You can even use this emulator in conjunction with MAX Media Creator to burn your own Mega Drive game compilations to CD-R.
But wait… there's more. Those ingenious Datel techy bods have somehow managed to squeeze MAXim into AR MAX on top of everything else. If you're not already familiar with MAXim, it's the only package designed specifically for online PS2 chat. You can even use it to access our CodeJunkies message boards via your PS2.
And it's not just extra software that makes this the best Action Replay ever, we've also managed to make it easier than ever before to add codes to your AR MAX database. Broadband users already have the luxury of Action Replay's Advanced Code Engine, which automatically downloads the latest codes directly to your PS2 whenever you run AR MAX on a broadband enabled PS2. But life just got much, much easier for non-broadband users too. Codes can be downloaded on your PC then transferred to your PS2 via a USB flash/pen drive or even burned to CD-R using the oh-so-useful MAX Media Creator software.
Now, are you ready for the best bit? All of the above will cost you just £19.99. Yup, for about half the price of a new game, you can expand the boundaries of your PS2 way beyond those of a mere games console. So, what are you waiting for?
There's also the option to get Action Replay MAX EVO Edition, at only £29.99, which includes all the fantastic functionality above, but also comes with an 16MB flash drive which fits into your PC's USB slot, or allows you to transfer saves and codes from console to console. Make your choice below and enter a new world of console enhancement....
Slightly redundant, in my case; I've just got a computer hooked up to the television, outputting DivX, XviD, MPEG, et cetera to the screen. But that's a good way to tie up a computer which could be left on its own to do better things.
Otherwise, It never hurts to spend £30 [£20 if you don't want the hardware with it] to get this to happen on a $150 PS2. Especially since I just bought a new PS2 a couple of days ago [my old one had about half a cat in it, and lacked a few modern additions (though, I realised after the fact, it didn't lack the firewire port we never found a use for)] and added EBGames' cool little Extended Warranty [now if only they sold laptops] to ensure that running films on it wouldn't break it in the long run.
