Mostly the part where they've actually made it difficult to download the QuickTime file. http://movies.apple.com/trailers/fox/avp/trailer/images/LARGE_TRAILER.mov is just a loader, autolinking to the actual file. Clever.
Otherwise...it looks pretty good, aesthetically speaking. I have some dread for the dialogue and plot, and some suspicions about continuity in general. But I'll go ahead and see it, for the same reason I go see anything Centropolis release--ID4, Godzilla, The Day after Tomorrow, and so on.
It is interesting to notice that they finally brought back O'Bannon's pyramids. Pity that Cameron already invented the Queen ex Machina for the second film, or this could be a pretty close remake of the original idea from twenty-five years ago. Oh well.
As for the 'winner', which is apparently open to a webbased vote already [and which hopefully won't affect the script at all], I'd have to assume that the xenomorphs won, for a number of obvious reasons....
Of course, it'll be interesting to see the offspring of a xenomorph and a predator, presuming that's a physiological possibility. I have to admit that I've never really looked into this storyline outside the films themselves, but I'm sure that someone out there has already FanFicked a creature with the predators' mandibles and the xenomorphs' proboscis; that would be a fun project in LightWave, at least....
On an almost related note, I finally got round to spending twenty-two hours watching the boxset for Season Three of Angel yesterday, and caught something I'd missed before: at some point in the season, one of the characters mentioned that the Alien films had scared the hell out of ?her, except for the fourth [written by Whedon], which was too stupid to be scary. Funny stuff...except that the second and third were at least as stupid.
