Anyway, just thought I'd mention Yahweh only assimilates the other gods of the Elohim in cultures after the Bible, indeed, if you read the mentions of "LORD" and "One Most High" et cetera, you get the names of multiple phoenician gods, Yahweh is only ever used in conjunction with Israel.

The biblical hebraic (sp?) pantheon appeared to be similar to the canaanite one, with a heavenly assembly run by El, who I am sure you are well acquainted with.

In any event, Deuteronomy has the point where we specifically are told Yahweh is given Israel to look over:

Deuteronomy 32:8 When the Most High(El Elyon) gave the nations their inheritance,when he divided up mankind, he set the boundaries of the peoples, according to the number of the heavenly assembly.

32:9 For the Lord's(Yahweh's) allotment is his people, Jacob is his special possession.

Subsequent change of the Jews from polytheism of the area to assimilative monotheism has El Elyon, other references to El as the same god as Yahweh, and then a jubled botch of an abortion of monotheism with christianity and actual monotheism in islam. Though I've never known a muslim refer to Allah as Yahweh, interestingly enough.
