My experience with computers is limited to pre-made systems, and even basic tech-knowledge is beyond me (probably because up until now, I've never really cared).

I have a vague idea of what I want the machine to be capable of in terms of what is going to be running, but even there, I don't know if there would be other programs that would be better, or if they just knock the price up 100% from the old version for a bunch of extras I dont need (or is that "I dont know I need"?).
