Post:Satanism I can understand, but devilworship?
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't devilworship just christianity in reverse? Aren't devilworshippers simply Jesus Crispies who decided that Lucifer/Beelzebub(whoever the hell's supposed to be in charge now) was more worthy of their time?
-Basically, devil worship comes from the idea that since God can not control humans (the whole free will thing) that Revelations is just one of a possible outcomes. Yes, Devil worshippers get all of their information from the Bible, which would seem to be painfully hypocritical, and yes, Devil worshippers are generally just rebeling against Christianity, but too lazy to make their own propaganda.
:I mean, they're still LARPing. They're just doing it for the other guy.
-Basically.
:Furthermore, I've found devilworshippers to be pissier versions of the Christ klan. They always talk big about being empowered by the devil, and doing all these bloody sacrifices, yet when push comes to shove they turn into wimpering little lemmings who quietly cower in the corner.
-The "Satan made me do it defense" is as bogus as the "God/Jesus/Bob Dobbs made me do it" Defense. Its a cop out. Assuming for an instant that either being exists, then the whole free will mythos comes back into play. No one (not even a deity or demi-god) can make anyone do anything. Its a moder twist on the insanity plea.
:They kind of remind me of goths, sans all the suicide talk.
-Not all goths are suicidal, or even infatuated with death, the few that are however, do tend to make a bigger fus. Plus its easier to notice when their mascara is running.
-The one thing to keep in mind however, is that "Devil worship" predates Christianity. Every primitive religion has had their altars to Loki/Anubis/Coyote/Mars etc. It wasn't until during Paul's "missionary" work in the middle east did Christianity become dualistic. Before then, Satan was a job, not a proper name. That's why in the old testament their are so many names for Satan: Beelzebub, the Serpent, Sammael, etc. They (theologically) were different entities filling the same role. And in Christianity's ignorance/denial of the "negative" aspects of the psyche, they bastardize their own religion, create two opposing equally powerful forces fighting over one pitiful rock in the cosmos, but more or less writing off the antagonist, the need for the dark, macabre, etc. goes unanswered and the human response is these dipshit devil worshippers.
