Help Stop Nickelodeon Program
From Promoting Homosexuality

They're bringing back Turkey Television?

The children's channel Nickelodeon is scheduled to air a show in mid-June that will promote homosexuality to children. Lesbian activist Rosie O'Donnell will be involved in the show and Nickelodeon will pit "pro-homosexual" children against pro-family children. It will include a discussion of so-called "homosexual families" and "anti-discrimination" laws.

Ah: my mistake--they're bringing back Double Dare....

Nick News is a "news magazine" for kids age 8-13. It airs Sunday evenings on Nickelodeon. Nick News also is shown in classrooms across the country as a part of "Cable in the Classroom." (Please see if Nick News airs in schools you care about.)

That shouldn't take too long; my scholastic apathy is without discrimination.

Nick News writer and host/producer Linda Ellerbee has been a longtime supporter of homosexual causes. In 1996, for example, she participated in the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) "Fairness Awards" ceremony to recognize organizations and individuals that promote homosexuality in the media. In addition, she performed in the vulgar obscenity-filled play "The Vagina Monologues" in June of 2000.

As long as she's not performing in this, I don't see the problem.

Some of the questions dealt with in this upcoming Nickelodeon show are:

**What do you think about homosexuals -- do you think it is morally wrong to be a homosexual? Why or why not?

Nope. Morality is subjective. Logically, from the homosexual perspective, it could be morally wrong to be straight. For that matter, it might be morally wrong for a 'conservative' to be whimpering across the entire 'net; calm down: have some dip.

**Many kids these days are growing up in families that are non-traditional (have 2 moms, or 2 dads) -- What do you think about that?

Tragic. Get these kids out of these houses and into the Nike factories where they belong.

**Many schools are bringing issues about homosexuality and diversity into classrooms -- do you think these kinds of things should be taught in school? Why or why not?

Just a moment...are you suggesting that people are actually teaching something in schools these days?

**Do you think homosexuals are discriminated against because of who they are?

No. I think homosexuals are discriminated against because of who they aren't. They aren't badly-dressed 'droids who favour apocryphal stories of deities who flood entire planets and kill their children to these real and 'immoral' events we encounter every day.

**Do you think we need laws to protect gays and lesbians from discrimination -- why or why not?

Not really. There are too many laws already. For example: did you know that it's still technically illegal to kill a christian? I really thought my lawyer was joking at first, but it appears to be true.

Traditional Values Coalition believes this show is completely inappropriate and should not air.  This show is nothing more than pure propaganda. It is an attempt to further desensitize our nation's children.

The Traditional Values Coalition believe in a messiah who performed miracles shortly before his suicide and deities who flood entire planets but fail to vanquish evil. The Traditional Values Coalition's beliefs are of no concern to smart people.

When I spoke with one of Ms. Ellerbee's assistants, she acknowledged that most parents think homosexuality is wrong. So why would her production company, Lucky Duck Productions, move ahead with this show?

Why would they move ahead with the show after talking to you? Probably to piss you off.

One of the topics to be covered is "anti-discrimination" laws. Now how would this be presented-truthfully or biased?  The federal "anti-discrimination" legislation the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), for example, does not specifically exclude transvestism, exhibitionism and sexual behavior disorders, to name a few. ENDA infringes on the religious beliefs of citizens by including Christian daycare centers, bookstores and organizations such as Traditional Values Coalition are covered entities, as well as gives greater protections to homosexuals than heterosexual couples.

As little sense as that paragraph made to speakers of English, it's possible that maybe--just maybe--it's slightly more immoral to launch christian jihads against the majority of the planet than to sleep with a consenting adult of your own gender.

These are just a few problems. How is the Nick News show going to cover what "perceived" sexual orientation means?

Best guess? Against a background of primary colours. Just a hunch.

In a conversation with Ms. Marva Smalls, Executive VP for Nickelodeon, I was told Nick News covers pervasive issues kids face everyday.  For an overwhelming majority of children in the Nick News age 8-13 target audience, homosexuality is not a pervasive issue.  In fact, it is not an issue at all.

Or, it wasn't until you started whimpering about it all to hell....

Act now to stop the airing of this show.

No need. I can prevent this show from being seen without any effort at all. I'm smart like that: I know how to turn off a television. You don't even have to walk across the room anymore; remote controls showed up in the sixties....

Nickelodeon needs to get the strong message that this type of show will not be tolerated by parents. Please sign the petition below and we will deliver your petition directly to Mr. Scannell.

Okay; I'll match that: if Mtv actually pull the show because of this, I'm going to boycott them. Anyone who would take the Traditional Values Coalition seriously is not worthy of my attention.

Sincerely,

Andrea Lafferty
Traditional Values Coalition
Executive Director

Y'know...'traditional' is a static idea; 'value' is a variable; your coalition's name is a nonsequitur.

Dear Mr. Scannell:

As a concerned citizen, I am deeply troubled that Linda Ellerbee's Nick News will soon air a program on homosexuality for the children who watch your network. I believe this is a totally inappropriate topic for children.

I'd know for certain, but I haven't advanced to the level of most of them yet.

I am asking that you use your influence to halt the airing of this program because it will only help promote the homosexual agenda among children. You claim Nickelodeon is a network parents can trust. I don't believe this is true.

If the show airs, it could prove that Nickelodeon is a network which homosexual parents can trust....

Andrea Lafferty, the Executive Director of Traditional Values Coalition, recently spoke with a representative in Linda Ellerbee's office who admitted most parents think homosexuality is wrong. So why promote it on your network?

Worldwide, most parents think that christians are wrong; why would Mtv play Stryper videos in the eighties?

Homosexual behavior is physically and mentally dangerous to those who engage in it. Homosexuals have high rates of venereal diseases, anal cancer, AIDS infection and substance abuse.

Actually, that's a lie. Statistically speaking, it's all about equal these days.

This is not a lifestyle that should be promoted on your network. I am asking you to call an immediate halt to any attempt by Linda Ellerbee to use Nickelodeon as a propaganda network for homosexual activist groups.

Granting that no one appears to be intending to use this show as any sort of activist platform [except, perhaps, for the TVC], that should be easy to accomodate.

If you air this program, I assure you I will alert my friends and neighbors to the fact your network is being used to indoctrinate children into acceptance of homosexuality as normal behavior.

She's bluffing: she hasn't got any friends and her neighbours all have restraining orders.

Anyway....
In other news, I updated wastedinc.com a bit [call me narcissitic, but my coding's somewhat better than the TVC's]. A lot of it's still under construction; I'll get to it.
I also reconsolidated everything back into one site. The only real purpose for WastedBinary.com and WastedDiscourse.com and WastedFootage.com turned out to be creating extra sites I never had time to work with. So those URLs all kickover to wastedinc.com now. It's easier that way.
Of course, now I'm tempted to go buy a few more URLs and develop new stuff. Amazingly, the ones I have in mind are still available. But, since I already have about a dozen URLs up for renewal this month, I'll put those off for a bit; it's always fun to realise that you've got to drop five hundred bucks into register.com at once.
I should probably upload this before telocity.com realise that they fucked up and let the DSL connexion work for a few minutes.
More later....
