You can get a .us, but you can't get state.us.
According to the whole 'system', if you live within a particular state, you're entitled to a whatever.state.[whatever].us, but nobody ever gets them, because you can't just grab them online.
Just because the .us code opened up doesn't mean that they're allowing state.whatever.us [or even .state.us] openly.
And regarding Tuvalu -- last I heard, it was in the process of becoming an ex-country. Or did you inform me wrongly.
