"nimo911: i'm in the 96th percentile at a very selective school, stop making things up."
"And yes, they are a real school. I've seen the building before. But no, they aren't special."
I'd just like to clear this fact up quickly. No, St. Xavier is not 'special' yet they do have a reputation for academic excellence that is continually tested and proven. One of the three perfect scores on the SAT so far this year have come from a St. Xavier student, the other two 1600s being scored by students from a local public school. The entrance exam is the national standard for high schools and only those in the 93rd percentile or higher are accepted. (There are, of course, acceptions for those with money and family.) St. Xavier averages 24 national merit semifinalists every year, among the top in the nation. This year, as reported on the website, there were 27 finalists. Almost all (99%) of the students go to college.
Okay, that's good, but what does it all mean? It means that Chris (nimo) being in the 96th percentile of this school is an accomplishment. No one is trying to say this school is awesome or the best, I'm just presenting you with the facts. The objective facts are that this is a school that strives for academic excellence and to be in the 96th percentile is a task.
I'd like to point out that the Internet is not an appropriate medium to judge character. Nimo may, in your eyes, type very ignorantly in chat rooms because he fails to puncuate and capitalize. His 'stupid' jokes and attitude may make him seem like someone who never takes anything seriously. The Internet does that to you, and I feel sorry for someone who will actually /believe/ that he is like that in real life. If we were to all judge people by this standard, I'd say that Hunter is an individual who is incredibly full of herself and can't admit defeat. Our budding law student completely proved Hunter wrong and what did we get? "You're from Canada, you are wrong," or something to that effect.
At any rate, I'd be extremely interested in conversing with anyone who wishes to further the discussion on Trillian, Wheezy, Nimo, Useless Static, and the mystery man named as Wans. You can use AOL Instant Messenger and IM me at 'SublimeCTF' or e-mail me at 'chrisw@cinci.rr.com.' Can't we all just get along?
Regards,
Chris Wanstrath aka 'Wans'
P.S. Special thanks to Hunter for making fun of my nickname. If I was childish, I would point out that Hunter uses an incredibly unoriginal callsign that seems more like a name a twelve year old would use for a Quake character than an intellectual would use for debate. I didn't pick the name Wans, I was born with it. People shorten Wanstrath to Wans for obvious reasons...The very fact that I am defending my birth name from you inane insult is just ridiculous.
