I'm not particularly afraid of deities existing. If you can show any deity[s] to exist by any means, with evidence withstanding criticism, then go for it. Just understand that evidence is a testable and retestable medium. Stating that a deity exists because there's no other explanation isn't evidence. You have to show evidence that any given deity[s] have ever existed. If that deity turned out to be Quetzalcoatl, then fine. If you can show Quetz to have existed, despite any testing of the evidence, then you've shown a deity to exist.
