If souls exist, they wouldn't be physical. They would be made of the same "material" as the God who would have created them. They would be composed of the "spirit" material, which is undetectable. This form may very well exist at a higher dimension, the question is, does this dimension exist? To this point, this dimension is undetectable. Perhaps souls, afterlife, and god are merely imagination, but just because something doesn't exist in our detectable realm doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

As far as only 144,000 being reserved in Revelation, that's an inaccurate interpretation. There are 144,000 from Israel. The passage continues to say there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language.
