God was an arcane Assyrian deity in which no one really believes anymore. Recently, the name God was plagiarised to depict Yhvh [possibly because it was monosyllabic], and, more recently, the term has become synonymous--in common usage--with deity
Aside from that, there are a number of conflicting reports. According to the pantheists, this deity is nothing more than the whole of existence; according to the bible, this deity is a moron who makes a number of laughable mistakes and then blames humanity for failing to understand.
Presuming you're talking about Yhvh, this deity is reported to be a sort of organism, with eyes and hands and feet; whether it's a hominid is unclear, although homosapiens are reportedly very similar to its image. If this deity is, in fact, an organism, it begs the question of its location. Maybe it's hiding in a rainforest somewhere, waiting to be discovered next to the latest species of frog. Or it's at the bottom of Loch Ness. We haven't got enough information on this creature to conclude any of that yet.
In the event that you're not talking about Yhvh, then this deity could be just about anything. If we're talking about Quetzalcoatl, then the most likely suspect is the thunderbird called Teratornis merriami, which apparently went extinct at about the same time as the megalania.
If you've come up with a new type of deity, then we can't be expected to guess after its characteristics.
In any case, I'll need more information before I can answer your question more specifically.
