"As for becoming an American citisen: this might not be the best time for that. Granted, there's not the drive for Americans to become Canadians that we had in the VietNam War, but it's getting close. The US Dollar is worth roughly half of what it was a year ago, thanks to Ashcroft. And the laws violating the constitution are being passed quickly enough that Escape from Los Angeles might have been set ten years too late."
If the American dollar has declined, Canada's has declined with it: at any rate, it's still worth just over 60 American pennies. And Canada doesn't have much of a constitution -- what we have was only incepted in 1982, and is filled with 'reasonable limits' and 'notwithstanding' clauses. That said -- perhaps this is the Canuck in me -- I'm not quite libertarian, and never really understood what this whole fascination for the constitution and 'rights' was all about anyway. Though I suspect you'd be inclined to disagree, and conceding the importance of guaranteed freedoms (at least on principle and in theory), I see no particular reason to suppose any human has inalienable rights anyway. But, hey, don't blame me: I'm just a utilitarian. It's all Mr. Mill's fault. -Genghis
