The argument for the existence of God, at this point, standardized, would look like this:

1. Something is eternal,
     2. That which is eternal is either the physical universe or a transcendent being,
     3. Things which have a beginning are not eternal,
     4. The material universe had a beginning,
     5. If the universe had a beginning then it is not eternal,
     6. Therefore by default, a transcendent being exists.
