Congress Readies for Action on President's Plan
for Health Care and Prescription Drug Choices

President Bush has made health care a top priority and has urged Congress to act now. In response Congress is working to take action on the President's $400 billion plan to help with the high cost of prescription drugs and improve access to quality health care. When the President announced his plan he reiterated his commitment to keeping the promises of Medicare for all saying, "We can, and we must, improve Medicare, and protect our seniors from runaway health care costs."

President Bush's plan focuses the health care debate on delivering quality health care and making sure that government invests in benefits for seniors, including prescription drugs, modern treatments to prevent disease, and protection from high out-of-pocket costs that threaten to rob seniors of their savings.

Speaking to Middle East leaders and the world the President said, "Each of us is here because we understand that all people have the right to live in peace. We believe that with hard work and good faith and courage it is possible to bring peace to the Middle East. And today we mark important progress toward that goal."

The Verdict Is In: President's Tax Relief Right Plan to Create Jobs

"The tax bill does a great deal for low-income families even without the refundable child credit addition. It expands the 10% income tax bracket, meaning that workers can earn more before leaping into the 15% and 25% brackets."
-- June 3, 2003, Wall Street Journal Editorial
"But the purpose of the legislation is, as suggested by its name -- the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 -- to stimulate the economy, not expand government hand-outs... already showing signs of working. The stock market jumped 180 points..."
     -- June 3, 2003, Detroit News Editorial
"President Bush's $350 billion tax package will have an immediate impact for many middle-income families, especially those that reside right here in Manitowoc County."
-- June 2, 2003, Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter Editorial
"If you work and pay taxes, you've got some 'new' money coming your way. With the tax cut package signed by President George W. Bush last week, most of you who claim a child credit on your income tax return will be getting a $400 check from the government this summer..."
     -- June 2, 2003, Macon Telegraph Editorial
"But it's the tax cuts that will offer the real benefit to the U.S. economy. President Bush understands what John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan knew well during their White House tenures: The only way government can help an economy is to remove less money from that economy."
     -- May 29, 2003, Dunn Record Editorial

Which, in a second, I'm about to dig through and actually read.
