It occurred to me to hit BestBuy.com and EMail the corporate office about all this. I should have a reply to this within three days, according to their site:
I'm not sure where to begin with this issue. A month ago, I took my laptop in to the BestBuy at 13801 East Mississippi in Aurora, Colorado because it had shut itself off and started up again with nothing more than a message reading Operating System Not Found. After a couple weeks without any news from anyone, I called the store and finally discovered that the drive had been destroyed, which was reportedly my fault, requiring $358 in parts an labour to fix; I was also told that the extended warranty I'd already paid for didn't apply and wasn't refundable; I could either pay this extortion or get my laptop back, unrepaired, so I could nullify the nonrefundable warranty having someone else fix it for me. So I authorised the repair, under duress. Finally, last night, after hearing nothing for another two weeks, I got hold of the Repairs Department who told me that the laptop had just returned that instant, and they were just about to call me--even though the invoice suggested that they'd had it since last Tuesday. The estimate had jumped from $358 to $378 without my consent, and the promised evidence showing this to have been my fault, along with the physical drive which may or may not have been replaced, were nowhere to be found; I'm still waiting on those. I paid the $378 to get my laptop back, now devoid of an OS at all, and went of to reinstal everything. That's when I noticed that someone had replaced my M key with another J key, for some reason, and that the UpArrow key, while not evidently stuck itself, keeps scrolling everything upward, making the computer impossible to use. I'm actually typing this in WordPad with the wordwrap shut off, just so I can keep typing without returning to the top line against my will. Excuse my lack of paragraphs; I lack that ability at the moment. So, I'm wondering what I can do next. I've come to the conclusion that the people at this physical store are retarded frauds, so I don't want to deal with them again. On the other hand, I've now bought a laptop, plus a warranty, plus a ?new drive, and I can't particularly use any of them. I'm hoping to resolve this issue without litigation. |
