Yeah, RE4 will have true 16:9 widescreen, which is good. As for differences in the custscenes, I'm not sure. It could help. There were times when playing the Resident Evil remake, where I would just stand there doing nothing because I thought a cut scene was taking place. I remember dying a lot in Fear Effect for the exact same reason.
That's actually the scariest element of these games: getting the timing down just right--especially the first time you play one--to avoid hitting any buttons and inadvertantly skipping a cutscene, but being ready to start moving the instant a cutscene ends, to avoid extermination.
Anyway, I find it doubtful that a company as powerful as Umbrella would be taken down in only 6 years by the U.S. government. Especially since Umbrella was probably selling its B.O.W. tech to the government anyway. I wouldn't be surprised to find an Umbrella twist somewhere in RE4.
I never really got the impression that Umbrella were really an American company in the first place. I assume Ashford was meant to have been English [the StarWars philosophy that the English are always the villains]; otherwise, Umbrella might turn out to be based in Argentina, under the joint silent partnership of Joe Mengele, Brain Mouse, and Ren Höek.
That, or we find it was actually the nefarious sister company: Parasol.
Heh. On which note, I really need to get round to developing http://ParasolCorporation.com one of these decades....
