Why Wait? Move to EarthLink; Send a Virus without Getting Caught

Sunday 9th February 2003

By now, some of the regulars at gremlin.net may know a little about abc111@radiks.net.
For those who haven't received an infected EMail and looked at its full headers, this is the sort of thing you can expect to find:

The question now is who abc111@radiks.net might be. In order to figure that out, we just run a quick WhoIs on the URL:

Which doesn't tell us much, except that radiks.net points to mindspring.net.
So let's click on mindspring.net and see where that goes....
It goes to EarthLink.net. Noted.
So let's have Hunter EMail EarthLink.net to find out what's going on....

Huh. According to 'Noel C.' [CSR ID#992, I guess], radiks.net has nothing at all to do with EarthLink.net.
I'm sceptical. Let's find out....

Oops. 'Noel C.' lied to us. After allowing abc111@radiks.net to EMail viruii to several regulars on the messageboard, he lied to us. That's not a good thing, now is it.
You realise: this means war.
EarthLink.net have just broken a fucking law. Sure: it could be argued that a single luser scriptkiddie EMailed out these viruii; but EarthLink are now aiding and abetting the little fucktard and denying that they could be held responsible at all. And that, unless a number of laws have changed without notice, is a fucking felony.
The next step? I'm sending 'Noel C.' a link to this What's New. Then he can decide whether he wants to keep lying about this, or fix the fucking problem yesterday.

Update: 10th February 2003

Here's EarthLink's official--if preliminary--response to this What's New:

Why are EarthLink employing people who can't fucking read into their customer service EMail pool?

Spam of the Day

First of all: I don't care. I'll never care. The IRS are operating in violation of Amendments Four and Five of the Constitution, and are of no further concern to me. However: guess who sent me this unsolicted spam:

Yup: more fun from EarthLink.net; maybe if mvwngina@earthlink.net is personally unable to pay me the five hundred bucks it owes me for spamming me with this, I'll just get it from its ISP....

More Later....
