At least that's what those Nexu things looked like to me. That entire scene reminded me of something out of Godzilla (or any of the dozens of other Japanese monster movies).

I don't know the name of those things the guards were riding, but they reminded me of pristichampsids. Considering how well known those are, that was probably the closest thing I'll ever get to seeing what a CG one would look like.
