The paradox you run into, when you place this being above and outside time, is this: Since matter and energy were created by this thing, we can assume matter and energy are not eternal. If they were eternal, they would not have needed to be created by a deity. Therefore, since this supreme being IS eternal, it is safe to assume it is neither matter nor energy. This poses problems when the third assumption is introduced, that this being that is neither matter nor energy was all that existed before the universe. If this is true, then the universe was created either out of nothing, or out of the being that created it. Since both the deity and nothing can be assumed to be eternal, any matter and energy created would also neccesarily be eternal. Except that, if it were eternal, it wouldn't have been created... ad nauseum.
