The dwarf caimen has about the right attitude to be a 'toy' anything -- nice so long as you don't try to touch it. Not nearly as much of a crack-fiend sent out to kill something for his next fix, but not as nice as the full-sized thing.
Not that poodles were ever 'nice'.
We got to see a reportedly 'nice' dwarf caimen once at a petstore in Ames, Iowa. I got to see the difference in personalities between the regular camien [which was, at the time, smaller than the dwarf caimen] and the dwarf. The dwarf was all sorts of nice and calm, so long as you didn't touch it -- the regular caimen, though? The instant Gremlin moved around behind the tank to reach in [some idiot had thrown a McDonalds coffee cup in, and nobody working at the store had the willingness to lose a hand getting it out], it got all excited. It's eyes went from that little tiny like, slit thingie, or whatever they are, to nothing but pupil, and it started swimming around, completely forgetting about what 'stealth' is.
Which, of course, pissed off the dwarf, which prevented the other caimen from actually making it to the other side of the tank.
Those little bastards are *fast*....
On another note: last I knew, Dwarf Caimens, while legal, were not only harder to find in pet stores, but more expensive than the more common 'crackfiend hitman' caimen.
