Well, it's mid March and the NDAs have finally expired. As such, IGN Cube has finally released their humongous Resident Evil 4 preview. Even if one has already read the detailed preview in Game Informer, IGN's goes far more in depth, including a detailed rundown of the demo level they were allowed to play. As an added bonus, IGN Cube also has an interview with the project producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi. In it he explains exactly why they decided to take this new route. He also had this to say about the footage that we've all seen previously: What you saw today is the exclusive, first-time ever, totally brand new game. So forget what you saw at E3 and TGS. This is kind of a downer, as I was hoping to see how Leon was going to handle being infected. Plus the game looked really good. With that said, the new build does appear to be very cool too, though I'm reserving judgement on exactly how scary it will turn out. I'm also happy to hear that we'll finally get some true analogue aiming. It's about frigging time. All in all, this will prove to be a worthy GameCube game, though I'm still at a loss as to how it is supposed to fit into the Resident Evil universe. Especially considering that there are no zombies, nor any mention of the T/G-Virus and Umbrella. Hopefully this will all come together nicely. | |
